EU opens trade counterattack against the U S
- Release on :2018-5-21
Recently, the European Union has intensified its options for the introduction of retaliatory tariffs in response to the United States’ plan to impose steel tariffs on the grounds of national security. The European Commission has issued a law that is expected to impose a 25% tariff on 2.8 billion euros (3.3 billion U.S. dollars) of U.S. goods as of June 20. The committee also threatened that if the United States imposes a 25% tariff on other EU steel products and imposes a 10% tariff on EU aluminum, the EU will likely expand its retaliatory actions in the subsequent stages. This position is also seen as further strengthening of the EU’s position in responding to US tariff measures.
